Garnet 20/40 Mesh – Industrial Abrasive

Product Description

Garnet 20/40 Mesh is a high-quality mineral abrasive made from almandine garnet. Its hardness (7.5–8.0 Mohs), high density and angular grain shape make it one of the most efficient materials for industrial sandblasting, surface preparation and filtration systems.

Technical Properties

  • Hardness: 7.5–8.0 Mohs
  • Density: 4.0–4.2 g/cm³
  • Mesh size: 20/40 (0.4–0.85 mm)
  • Low dust and high durability
  • Free of hazardous crystalline silica

Industrial Uses and Applications

  • Sandblasting: cleaning of steel structures, ships, tanks and industrial surfaces.
  • Surface preparation: creating optimal profiles for painting and coating systems.
  • Waterjet cutting: compatible with mixed abrasive applications.
  • Water filtration: long-lasting natural filtration media.
  • Construction: specialty coatings and industrial finishes.

Extraction and Processing

Garnet is mined from metamorphic deposits, then washed, crushed, magnetically separated, dried and carefully graded to achieve consistent 20/40 mesh size and optimal abrasive performance.

Main supply origins include India, Australia, Pakistan, Turkey, China and South Africa.
