Copper Pyrite – Chalcopyrite (CuFeS₂)

Product Description

Copper Pyrite, also known as Chalcopyrite (CuFeS₂), is one of the world’s most important copper-bearing minerals. Recognized by its brilliant golden metallic appearance, copper pyrite is widely used in copper refining, metallurgy and chemical industries.

Available Grades

  • Cu 18–22% – standard grade
  • Cu 22–28% – mid-grade
  • Cu 28–32% – high-grade chalcopyrite

Industrial Uses and Applications

  • Copper production: primary raw material for refined copper.
  • Metallurgy: smelting, alloy production and industrial refining.
  • Chemical industry: production of copper sulfate and various copper-based chemicals.
  • Sulfuric acid: extracted as a by-product during processing.
  • Decorative & geological use: natural mineral specimens.

Extraction and Processing

Copper pyrite is extracted from open-pit and underground mines, then crushed, processed through flotation or gravity separation, dried and chemically analyzed for Cu, Fe, S and impurities.

Main origins include Pakistan, Peru, Chile, Zambia, China and Morocco.
