Product Description
Coarse Barite (also known as Raw Barite or Barite Lumps) is a natural form of barium sulfate (BaSO₄) supplied in stone or chunk form. With its naturally high density (4.1–4.3), coarse barite is widely used in the drilling, chemical, construction and industrial sectors.
Industrial Uses and Applications
- Oil drilling: feedstock for grinding into drilling-grade barite powder.
- Chemical industry: production of barium-based chemicals (BaCl₂, BaCO₃, etc.).
- Construction: heavy concrete mixes, radiation shielding and industrial mortars.
- Glass & ceramics: used in high-density glass and glaze formulations.
- Mineral processing: primary raw material for barite powder & industrial fillers.
Grades and Specifications
- BaSO₄: 85–92%
- BaSO₄: 92–95% (high-grade)
- Density: 4.1–4.3 g/cm³
- Sizes: 10–50 mm, 50–150 mm or custom
Extraction and Processing
Coarse barite is extracted from open-pit and underground mines, then washed, manually selected, size-graded and tested for BaSO₄ content, density, SiO₂ and Fe₂O₃. It is delivered in its raw, unprocessed state.
Main origins include Pakistan, Morocco, Turkey, Mexico, India and China.
